Storage Policies
There are no storage charges or elevation fees on soybeans contracted or sold prior to November 1, or on corn contracted or sold prior to December 1. Once those dates arrive, producers need to decide if they want to sell any unsold crops, or if they want to put them into storage. Crops going into storage at that point will be subject to a one-time $4.00/tonne handling charge, and storage charges will begin to accumulate.
Maizeing Acres Inc. charges $2.00/tonne/month to store all crops. It is charged on a daily basis, so you pay only for the days that your crops are actually in storage. Corn that is shipped out will have a $6 out charge if it is not purchased by MAI.
Deferred Payments
As of July 1, 2012, deferred payments became a permanent part of the Grains Act. This allows you to sell your crops this year, but defer the payment (and the taxable income) into next year. In order to do this, there must be a written agreement between the elevator and producer. The elevator does all of the paperwork. All you have to do is let us know when you want the payment for your crop to be issued. To arrange this, either call Donna at 705-930-3488 or email donna@maizeingacresinc.com requesting that your payment for this year's crops be held until next year.
